Thanks to our loyal and passionate following, Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf has cultivated a global audience. As a result, we have a fresh crop of questions for Kenny Nicholson, Technical Specialist of Edwin Watts Golf, to answer on this episode.

Tim Frazier of Florida writes in and asks "I have been hearing about golf shaft PUREing and the advantages that it will bring to all levels of golfers. Does this really help the control on & off center hits?"

Name: Alex Kinkade of Ohio asks "My driver has a dent on the crown, located on the toe. Would this dent change the ball flight like the weights on a Taylomade driver?"

Name: Mike Lyons from Maryland writes to Kenny saying, "A few months ago on one of the podcasts, you mentioned a product that was great for cleaning practice mat residue from irons. Can you tell me what that was? I thought it contained the word 'spirits,' but I'm not sure."

Brian Fox of Maryland asks "I know that temperature and humidity have an affect on distance, but how much? Can it be quantified with a simple formula? For example, does a 10 degree temperature decrease cause a 2 percent distance decrease? Is there a formula or rule of thumb with respect to how wind changes distance? What is that threshold? How much does low trajectory help battle the wind?"

Golf Better #32: Ask Kenny

One of my favorite things about podcasting is that you're engaged in the conversation, and on this episode of Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf, Kenny Nicholson, Technical Specialist at Edwin Watts Golf answers your questions.

Kenny starts by answering David Largent of Maryland, who asks: "On wedges, what is the main factor that hosel length has in performance?"

Brendan Toohey from Singapore writes in to ask: "I was listening to the podcast with the guy from Adams, and you were talking about the effect of having the wrong lie angle: i.e., if the club's too flat for the golfer, then the toe will hit the ground, open the blade and the ball will slice?"

Tyrone from Detroit asks: "I was practicing my swing, in slow motion while looking into a mirror. And dropping my hands feels manipulated. Is that what I am supposed to do and is that what it supposed to feel like?"

Alan from West Sussex, England writes "Why can't you purchase clubs (irons) as singles?"

Chris from Manahawkin, NJ asks: "Typically, what type of ball is a 'range ball'? What are the big differences between them and a ball we would use for play. I've always believed that the flight of the ball is exaggerated on a range ball. Am I right?"

Golf Better #25: Ask Kenny

Thanks to you, our listeners, Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf, along with Golf Smarter and Golf Smarter Tips, rules the top of the charts on iTunes' Amateur Sports section. On this episode of Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf, Kenny Nicholson, Technical Specialist at Edwin Watts Golf, answers questions from across the nation.

Tyrone of Detroit, MI, writes in, saying "I'm left hand dominant, breaking my left wrist twice as a teenager, and steering an automobile is the only skill on which I rely on my left hand. Therefore, it feels really awkward to try to take my right hand out of my golf swing and putting stroke. Should I change and become a left-handed golfer? If I do, it seems that I would be more comfortable and have greater control puling the clubs and putter down the target line with my right hand."

Dwayne of Huntsville, AL, asks "My 12-year-old is now at a stage of transition from 'kid's clubs' to 'real clubs.' For now, I have had a set made from components essentially ladies clubs that do not have ladies or womens stamped on them anywhere. Was this a good transition decision, or was there a better option I should have considered?"

Nick of Sayerville, NJ, says "I'm 16 years old and I play on my school team. I've been pretty good but my coach says I have to stop slicing the ball. I've learned how to play it but it takes so much distance off. How can I solve this problem?"

Mardi of Corte Madera, CA, writes in "What factors should you consider for selecting what clubs to get? Fairway woods versus hybrids versus irons, how do you do a comparison particularly, if, like me, you are not a consistent hitter?"

Mark of Peabody, MA, asks "I am a 25 handicapper, and my swing can change from day to day depending on how I am hitting the ball. If a club/shaft fitting is done, how can I be sure that I am swinging the same way during fitting versus on the driving range versus on the course?"

On episode #21 of Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf, Tom talks with Fred and Kenny Nicholson, technical specialist at Edwin Watts Golf, about new fairway wood and hybrid technology, adapting USGA rules to that ever-evolving technology, and much more.

Congratulations to Gary from Acworth, Georgia! You are the winner of a Garmin Golf Logix GPS System, courtesy of Edwin Watts Golf!

Golf Better #20: Kenny Answers More Questions

Shaft flex, GPS technology, and the practice it takes to improve the length ball flight are all questions Kenny Nicholson of Edwin Watts Golf answers on episode #20 of Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf. Thanks to all of you who listen to the podcast, and exercise the interactivity of this cutting-edge communication by submitting questions.

Kenny starts by answering Rick from Florida, who writes "What is you take on the controversy of steel versus graphite shafts and irons?"

Grant from Australia writes "I have improved my ballstriking recently, but I have really struggled when I get to under 100 meters out of the green. I am shocking at judging how hard to hit the ball. Is it just practice to improve? i.e. just going out and hitting heaps of shots, to get a feel or do you have any other drills that will help?"

Richard from Japan writes in to say "I practice at a lake driving range that uses floating golf balls and my friend told me that the ball flight is very different from a conventional golf ball, so I may not be getting the same ball flight I would get on a golf course using regular golf balls. Is this true and to what degree does it change your ball flight? Is the time I spend at the range wasted from using floating golf balls?"

Jim from Tennessee, asks "How does swing speed relate to loft on the driver or other woods?" and Scott from Bridgewater, New Jersey writes "What is the best way to try new shafts for irons? Does the clubhead matter much when testing to see which shaft will change my shot trajectory?"

James from the Philippines asks "What is the main difference between a cavity back iron and the blade irons?" and Andy from Illinois asks about different GPS systems, including the benefits and drawbacks of the Sonocaddie "which shows the layout of the hole similar to looking at a yardage book ... it shows where each of your shots started and landed ... I would like to know which, if any GPS devices have similar options."

Golf Better #19: Ask Kenny

Kenny Nicholson of Edwin Watts Golf is back center stage for another edition of Ask Kenny, on episode #19 of Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf. Thanks to you, the Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf podcast is one of the most More...popular golf podcasts — and the fact that questions come from around the world only stands as a monument. Thank you very much for listening.

Kenny begins by answering Ian from Ireland, who asks "I am just about to purchase a new set of wedges and was wondering about finishes (oil, chrome, gun metal, etc.) What are the pros and cons of each?

Duff from Utah writes "My sons and I keep track of putts during our rounds of golf. Sometimes I use my putter when I am several feet outside of the fringe. Does this count as a putt? My boy says it does, I thought it did not count as a putt unless you are on the green."

Dan from Chicago writes "I was given a complimentary driver after attending a golf school. Can I take it to Edwin Watts and have it fitted correctly? How much is a fitting session for a driver not purchased at your store and what range in prices are shafts that match well with a Sasquatch?" Teddy from Nevada writes "Do you guys take trade ins? I have a set of Ping I3 irons (3 thru PW) and a Titleist 983K Driver and I would like to purchase a Ping G10 3W."

Regis of Pennsylvania asks "With the I-Mix heads and shafts, do they follow the same rule as the Mizuno 600 Driver if you are not allowed to adjust the driver settings after the round has started, so you can change the shaft or head after the first tee of that round?"

And Bob from California rounds out the questions by asking "Does gripping down on the club an inch or two have the same effect as shortening the shaft on a driver?"

Titleist Irons with Dan Stone, VP of Club R&D

Selecting the right type of irons can be confusing, with different styles for different kinds of players and enough variations in the materials to drive anyone a little crazy. Dan Stone, Vice President in charge of Research and Development for Titleist, joins Kenny Nicholson of Edwin Watts Golf and Fred to discuss Titleist's new line of irons and ease the sometimes arduous task of selecting clubs on episode #18 of Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf.

Kenny also answers Chris from New Jersey, who writes "I was wondering what you thought about all the clubs in your bag having the same grip. I am going to re-grip my irons, however my woods and hybrids are much newer and don't need new grips. Also, if I buy a club from Edwin Watts Golf, can I have a specific grip put on the club?"

Tim from California asks "When selecting new grips, I am a bit confused with all the choices. Soft, medium, etc ... How do you know without trying them what is the best? What type of player uses a soft or medium grip?"

Holley from Florida (Kenny's daughter), asks "I just got a new Prince Hybrid chipper, and I hit my golf ball over the green and I had not hit it that hard. Do you have any suggestions on how to hit it on the green but not over it?" The proud daddy suggested a new coach...and more.
