Those who have tested the sumo² drivers say, "weird shape, weird sound, but the ball definately goes straighter." Click Nick's Picks icon for Staff Review of the Nike Sumo driver -
The new Nike SasQuatch SUMO² driver features a powerful new square geometry to deliver the HIGHEST MOI in golf at 5300 g cm². SUMO² stands for Super Moment of Inertia Squared. To achieve this radical geometry, Nike utilizes a multi-material construction with a composite crown to save weight vs. a conventional titanium crown. The SUMO² is the ultimate driver for distance, forgiveness, and accuracy. This driver is also the widest driver on the field for early 2007 at 4.9 inches in front-to-back depth (US Golf Association's limit is 5 inches).
- SUper MOment of Inertia Squared (SUMO²): Highest MOI = 5300 g cm², by utilizing a multimaterial construction and radical square geometry, this driver delivers superior forgiveness and greater distance.
- New Nike PowerBow design: Radical square design increases MOI for superior forgiveness and greater distance.
- Max Back CG: The SUMO² Nike PowerBow geometry moves the CG further back and lower than the original SasQuatch driver.

Nike Golf's K.J. Choi wins the AT&T National Using Nike's New SasQuatch Sumo² Driver SQ Sumo² Is The Sound and Shape of Things to Come At the AT&T National, K.J.’s success came with a 308-yard driving average and a top-five driving accuracy of over 73%. In fact, since switching to the SQ SUMO2 (Fig. A), averages like that are becoming quite average for K.J. The win at Congressional marks his second in just five weeks, his fifth top-10 finish of the season, and also moves him into fourth place in the FedEx Cup standings. Now, add to this proven performance of geometry the stability of his SP-8 TW Tour shoes and the precision control of his NIKE ONE Platinum ball, and you can see that K.J.’s future looks not only bright, but downright heavy. |
