grackel - A great decision   October 22, 2011

Bought this putter a few weeks ago, and it's the best decision I ever made. Had used an old blade putter in the past, and had some very good days with it. But lately seemed to struggle, especially with short ones. Started getting a little yippy, and decided it was time for a change. Wanted to try a belly putter, and don't know why I chose the Spider Ghost. I guess the large, balanced head seemed like it would be a good match for a longer shaft, and it is. It took three or four rounds before I got used to it, or should I say, trusted it. But once I did, putts started falling in all over the place. As for the white color making it easier to line up, I don't really notice that. What I have noticed is that the grooved insert on the putter face makes the ball roll better. Putts that catch the edge of the hole are magically drawn into the cup. Don't really understand the science behind it, but it works. The large head seems very stable, but it doesn't appear overly large while I'm using it. Though it comes in a regular shaft version, I believe the belly putter is the way to go. Took a little while to get used to something stuck in my stomuch, but once I did, it's very easy to putt with. So easy, I almost feel like I'm cheating. Hope the USGA doesn't read this.
