Insider Review -   May 16, 2012

I’ve been using these irons all year and can tell you first-hand that they added 15 yards per iron shot over my previous cavitybacks. Being a low-handicap golfer, I wondered how this was possible – after all, I already hit many of my shots on the sweet spot. The shafts on these are about ½” to ¾” longer per club. That helps you get more whip action and thus clubhead speed. The lofts are really not jacked up much more than my prior model – I even had them measured to dispel that suggestion. But it’s the weighting that also helps you unleash the fury here. Not only does the ball get up quickly and feel solid, it simply soars. You can work the ball left and right with ease. My only problem is actually adjusting to the shaft length. Before I realized the shafts were longer, I was continually shanking shots. As it turns out, that was obviously because I was still standing the same distance from the ball at address as I had been with my last clubs. When I moved back a half-inch with these, there was no longer that issue to contend with. Bottom line: I love these irons.
