The PING G20 Fairway Wood

The new Ping G20 Fairway Wood is designed to be the most forgiving wood that Ping has ever made.  The Ping G20 woods have a larger profile design and a lower center of gravity resulting in more forgiveness on off-center hits.  Players of all ability levels will benefit from the forgiveness, versatility, and distance of the Ping G20 fairway woods. This club easily gets the ball airborne and adds yards with a low-deep center of gravity in the 17-4 stainless steel head by creating low spin with a much higher launch. Accuracy comes from perimeter weighting and a slightly larger face that raises the moment of inertia, ensuring a stable clubhead and faster ball velocity for maintaining distance, even on miss-hits. With a larger front-to-back and heel-to-toe, the G20 fairway wood sets up neutral at address and rotates square at impact.

    • Shaft Type: Ping TFC 169F
    • Grip: ID8
    •  The elongated, low profile designof the G20 Fairway Wood offers a long, forgiving option for golfers who rely on the confidence of a larger head.
    • An external weight pad on the sole of the stainless steel head positions the center-of-gravity low and farther back to provide higher trajectories and increased distance

I was a little hesitant to replace my old 3 wood but it was 7 years old and I wondered if techology had improved enough to make a new purchase worth while. Bottom line is yes. This club is so much easier to hit off the deck and accuracy is phenominal. It is as forgiving as hitting a hybrid club only longer. I hit a competitor's 3 wood using the EW's simulator and there was no comparison. This is the best fairway wood on the market.

Insider Review -   May 15, 2012

PING has long made some of golf’s best, most hittable fairway woods. This one’s really forgiving on mis-hits, thanks to its larger clubhead and low CG. It’s aimed at all skill levels, and I truly believe that every golfer can benefit from it. Looks nice at address – more conservatively shaped than PING woods in the past, sets up square to the ball, sounds solid at impact, and has great performance. You’ll get the ball up quickly and will see plenty of distance. The fact that it’s low-profile makes you more confident that you’ll get the ball up nice and high, too.
