BOOKLEGGER TRUE BOO

From a distance, Weekley seems like a charming eccentric, a homespun golfer once knocked out by an orangutan in boxing gloves at a Florida county fair. But by book's end, Weekley's charm runs thin. He tells of how he flunked out of "turfgrass school," worked three years in a chemical plant before starting to gamble-or as he describes it, "hustling on golf." Weekley soon went from betting his own money to being bankrolled by gamblers who bet as much as ,000 on his matches. After winning his first small professional tournament, Weekley devoted himself to making the PGA Tour, earning his tour card in 2002. He soon dropped off the tour, but returned in 2007 to win his first PGA event and then star on the 2008 Ryder Cup team.
